CHANGING CABLES WITH A NUTTY UNCLE FROM CANADA

You know the deal: your shifting gradually degrades and you start fiddling with the barrel adjuster to tighten up the cable stretch, only to loosen it back up. Or, that once buttery smooth trigger has started to get a bit sticky and requires more effort to push than you think it used to. Time to change the cables, and while your at it, replacing the housing isn't a bad idea, either.  Our session started out with a simple cable replacement but ended up becoming more. In the never ending saga to shave grams, we swapped around XO with XX shifter and hardware between bikes, which involved the removal of some slide-on grips.

To take the edge off, we paired the labor with Dead Frog Brewery's Nutty Uncle Peanut Butter Stout that we acquired while in Canada.

While this might seem like a novelty brew, we beg to differ. If you're a fan of peanut butter and chocolate (i.e. Reese's), and you like nice stout, you'll enjoy this.

It pours a fairly standard dark cola color, and has a nice sweet chocolatey-coffee nose. Chocolate flavors comes through first, with a bit of peanut butter aftertaste. It isn't overpowering, but it's definitely there. With a creamy medium body and what we'd classify as medium carbonation, this is a great beer for when an overpowered IPA just won't do. It's not the greatest stout ever, but it's certainly worth a purchase if you can find one.
